Vehicle dynamics on performance cars used to mean applying a few rules of thumb and hoping for the best. But modern advances in tire testing and simulation are turning vehicle dynamics into a science, where problems can be solved methodically and accurately. AVS employs the latest software, such as Win-Geo® from Wm. C. Mitchell and MATLAB® from The MathWorks. We also have business relationships with tire test labs that can provide state of the art tire performance data. These tools allow us to interpret design data, and on-track test results, to understand what your chassis is doing and why it is doing it.
Analysis of Champ Car on short oval with stiff front sway bar yielding 65% front roll couple distribution. Saturation of front tire slip angle limits cornering speed to 147 MPH.
Same car with harder rear bar to reduce front roll couple distribution to 45%. Reduced load on outer front tire allows cornering speed increase to 154 MPH.
